The mission of the Elijah Jayden Hawkins-Maynor Foundation is to have a transformative impact on society through four key pillars: academic achievement, community outreach, mentorship and benevolence.
Vision
The work of the Elijah Jayden Hawkins Maynor Foundation will EMPOWER, ELEVATE and ENCOURAGE people who dream of a better life/world for themselves and for their fellow man/woman. We believe this vision is imperative if we are to create a better society where everyone is valued and respected. The Elijah Jayden Hawkins Maynor Foundation will serve as a beacon of HOPE for the dismayed, LIGHT for the lost, and POSSIBILITIES for those who dream of a better tomorrow.
Our Story
Our son Elijah Jayden Hawkins-Maynor transitioned to Paradise on October 5, 2023. He was a passenger in a vehicle, along with three other college students, that collided with a tree. While the other’s survived the accident, sadly Elijah succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash. Rosalind and I were actually out of the country when the accident occurred; and learned about our son’s death via text and voice messages, as we arrived at our destination. We were shocked, disoriented and heartbroken, as any parent would be under similar circumstances. From half-way around the world, we were trying to pull together the “pieces” of the unimaginable. What happened, who was he with, was it really our son, where was he now, what is the most expeditious way for us to get back home, etc. Of course, that other forbidding question was at the forefront of our minds as well…Why did this happen? As Christians, Rosalind and I have always stood on our faith and the word of God. Despite the tragic and sudden death of our son, we continue to stand on our faith and the word of God. Rosalind and I started the Elijah Jayden Hawkins Maynor Foundation in honor of the life our son lived; with the goal of empowering, elevating and encouraging others. This is the way our son lived; and this foundation will serve as a legacy to Elijah Jayden Hawkins Maynor, not of a life cut short, but of a LIFE WELL LIVED.
