Mother

Dear Elijah,
Words can not express how much I miss you!
I think of you often.
No matter where I turn, there you are.
You are a gift to me. Because of you, I am a mother.
I treasure the moments we shared.
I miss your Kool-Aid smile.
I miss the sound of your feet running down the stairs yelling, “Ma!”
I miss you jumping on the bed between Dad and me, saying, “What’s up?”
I miss the telephone calls and the home visits.
I miss singing gospel songs together as we drove to the next destination.
I miss talking trash with you in the kitchen as we prepared meals or just ate and talked.
I miss seeing you eat at the kitchen bar with your laptop. The bar chair is still empty with your presence.
I will miss you helping me set up my classroom and/or bring me lunch.
You are forever in my mind, heart, and spirit. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. I reflect on our moments together. I appreciate your big hugs and kisses on my forehead.
Thank you for showing me how to love, forgive, relax, and enjoy the moment. Dad, the village, and I are still taking care of you. No one could ever take your place in my heart. So, rest in paradise until we meet again. I love Elijah and miss you so much! I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you in heaven. I am proud of you son for praying as you transitioned from earth to paradise. We will “Trust God”!
Love,
Ma
